From June 1998 until April 1999, the first phase of the New York State move towards full de-regulation of power suppliers, about 62,000 customers made the switch from Con Ed to the ESCO of their choice, such as IDT Energy. Baron believes that he has saved about 60% on his heating bill last winter, in addition to helping improve the world by using less energy.
