Electricity and Gas for the World!

In it’s never ending quest to find useful information which can make people’s lives better and their world safer, healthier and cleaner, IDT Energy in New York has found an interesting organization, the World Resources Institute. This institute, which has been in existence for over 25 years, is a think-tank which investigates the complex environmental challenges facing the world today in search of solutions.

The goal of WRI, which is a goal it shares with IDT Energy, is to help human society to live so that the Earth’s delicate environment in protected now and for future generations to come.

The four key goals at WRI are as follows:

1.    People and Ecosystems
2.    Governance
3.    Climate Protection
4.    Markets and Enterprise

We will be discussing in depth these ideas in further posts to come.

IDT Energy understands that New Yorkers are savvy shoppers and concerned citizens. As such we know you want to stay informed about what purchases you can make which will help save not only on your bills but will also benefit the environment. The New York State Energy Research and Development Association (NYSRDA)  educates and promotes with specially designed programs ways for New Yorkers to save money, energy and the environment.

By looking for the Energy Star label on appliances and other products consumers can have confidence that their purchase is energy efficient and that they will save money in the long run. Their purchase will also be environmentally friendly.

Sometimes products with the Energy Star may cost more than other products, but you can rest assured that soon the savings you will experience on your utility bills will more than pay for the initial higher purchase price.

Nonrenewable energy makes use of fossil fuels like coal, gas and oil to produce energy. These are limited resources that cannot be replaced once they are consumed. Other sources of energy, however, like the wind, organic matter, running water and the sun are renewable. This means that green energy is sustainable and that the costs involved in producing green energy are less dependent (if at all) on availability.
Energy production from fossil fuels results in emissions that cause pollution and leave destructive waste products. Energy that is produced from renewable energy sources does not affect the environment during its production, as it does not contribute to global warming, acid rain, nor urban smog. The health risks
associated with producing green energy are almost nil, while standard energy production can result in the cause of lung cancer, asthma, and other respiratory illnesses.
